Last month, O.Henry Seasons magazine published an article about Alan Henderson’s letterpress shop in Winston-Salem [ https://issuu.com/ohenrymag/docs/o.henry_seasons_spring-summer_2016/c/sp6wleo ]. This post jogged my memory of it.
See his site [ http://alanhendersonstudio.com/ ].
This comes from Jay Korman, our Hot Metal Correspondent:
Nice use of video. Great the way he shot one bit of stuff and applied it differently in different vids.
I didn’t get to see Heidelburg windmills at the shop where I worked. We had a Miele verticle, Chandler & Price hand-ram for small cards, a Kelly Chief and a Kelly B. Also a working Linotype & a Ludlow for casting type. We didn’t view the work as being “artisanal.” It was work. Yes, there was craftsmanship involved, but no one viewed it like it was cheese-making or something like that. Artisanal! Bite me.
